For the foreigner arriving for the first time in Kyiv and, maybe in Ukraine as well, this guidebook written in English and beautifully printed, desserves a complete reading.

Well documented and illustrated with colourful maps, plans, photos and reproductions (see reproduction of double page below), it presents the places and the districts in their historical context and signification. It helps to better assimilate the city in its varied dimensions and circles around its center.

It also includes lots of helpful practical informations for the daily life and the conditions of accomodation in Kyiv. For my personal experience, really, a very useful tool before my first approach.

Of course, an updated version, 10 years after the initial one, would be very much appreciated, since Kyiv evolved very much during the last decade.
